Synthesized Sunsets is a Seattle mag about speculative fiction and the future of pop. Every quarter will bring a new "season" of the magazine, which will feature a print edition and an aesthetic theme to guide the articles for that season.

Speculative fiction is meant in the broadest possible sense. Anything involving future visions or distant worlds is fair game. Each issue will cover a wide range of media, including literature, film, and web fiction. In addition to critical content, we will also publish short fiction written by Seattle writers. If you would like to submit a piece, please send an email to synthesized.sunsets@substack.com with subject line "FICTION SUBMISSION".

Pop is intentionally ambiguous— most frequently it will refer to pop music, but it could also refer to pop culture, or even the population. Most issues will focus on music at the nexus of pop and electronica, as well as topics that illustrate broader industry trends. There will also be a focus on innovation in music technology.

In addition to these topics, we will publish miscellaneous articles about Seattle life and topics that are on-theme. Each issue will feature a guest contribution from a member of the community. If you would like to submit a guest article for the current season, please send an email to synthesized.sunsets@substack.com with subject line "ARTICLE SUBMISSION".

In order to fund the magazine, we will be hosting trivia events about pop music and speculative literature in Capitol Hill (Seattle). Consider stopping by to meet other readers and pick up some printed copies! There will also be online trivia sessions for paying subscribers.
